You Most Likely Have Spray Lacquered Woodwork.

It is hard to maintain, shows every nick, scratch, worn and peeling area.  It also becomes dull and drab. Worse, it is too toxic to re-apply spray lacquer when the home is inhabited.  Do you hate it like we do?

The interior woodwork in most homes eventually becomes scratched, dull and shabby.
It also becomes harder to clean as the months and years go by.

This is due to the way almost all interior woodwork is finished.  The light colored wood beneath the wood-toned spray lacquer eventually becomes exposed.  In 90% of North American homes built after 1970, wood-toned finishes are either colored or clear spray lacquered.

As stated above, spray lacquer is very toxic so having your contractor or someone else come back in and re-spray it is neither a healthy nor convenient option.  We created the Mirawood Nontoxic Refinishing Process in 1989 to stabilize and repair damage and make your woodwork beautiful again.  It is also amazingly easy to clean! (See testimonials.)

We wish there was some recourse for you as a homeowner against those contractors and developers who use the spray lacquer, simply because it's cheap and convenient.  Unfortunately, this is an industry standard and accepted practice.  You and millions of other homeowners have or soon will have these problems.

Let us delight you with service that cleans, restores and protects your woodwork - with beautiful results that rival traditional refinishing!

What To Do Right Now

Stopping the damage from getting worse is priority #1.  It is important that you immediately stop using any abrasive cleansers or oil-based wood soaps.  Lemon oil, in particular, is often recommended for cleaning interior woodwork.  However, lemon oil is acidic and actually erodes the finish.  The result?  The harder you work, the appearance of your woodwork looks worse and worse.
Even "gentle" wood-cleaning oil soaps create a sticky and dull finish.
Note:  The wood is sealed by the spray lacquer.  Oil applied to the surface does not soak into the wood.  It stays on the surface and collects dust and dirt, causing the wood to appear even worse.

Your MiraWood Finish Is So Strong, We Guarantee It For 7 Years!

We've been making woodwork beautiful again for 28 years and it actually lasts longer, however, we've found that 4% to 5% of homes get enough new nicks and scratches after ten years, to warrant an inexpensive touch-up.
